Moving you towards a sustainable career

What is Plat4m?

Plat4m is an intensive 6-month professional development programme specifically designed to meet the needs of artists who are culturally, linguistically or ethnically a minority in Hertfordshire and it will support artists at any stage in their artistic career. All art disciplines welcome.

The programme will help you to identify and remove professional barriers, as well as develop your arts practice into a sustainable career. Plat4m will provide artists with:

·         Tools and business knowledge to produce an 18-month Research and Development plan

·         An opportunity to receive commissions for collaborative projects, with other artists on the programme 
Key skills that you will learn include:

  • Defining your artistic practice into a commercially sustainable career, without losing artistic integrity
  • Business skills and resources to develop your ideas and increase your financial independence
  •  Understanding what funders are looking for in project proposals to build your confidence to complete funding applications.
  • Enabling and encouraging you to think like an entrepreneur
Modules will include
  • Vision and finance
  • Project and event management
  •  Marketing and audience development
  • Business and legal frameworks
  • Strategic planning and time management  


How much will it cost?

  • £140  for World Arts Platform artist registered members
  • £250 non-members

The course is subsidised by World Arts Platform, a non-profit making programme. The participants’ fees will cover the cost of course venue hire, which will have to be paid in advance. Due to this fees will not be refundable once Plat4m has begun.
